Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P52 Viewfinder Replacement

Introduction

This guide explains how to replace the viewfinder in the Sony Cybershot DSC-P52

What you need

    • Open battery compartment and remove batteries.

    • Remove all visible screws on the outside of the case.

    • There should be three of them that are all easily located.

    • Open the memory card compartment.

    • Remove the screw next to the memory card slot.

    • Pull apart front and back cover pieces carefully.

    • The front cover should come completely free with little effort.

    • The back cover will still be attached to the circuit board.

    • Unclip all of the clips holding in the circuitry simultaneously and remove the back case.

    • The circuitry will still be connected to the back case by ribbon cables.

    • Open case as shown.

    • Unclip the clip holding the ribbon cable in.

    • Other ribbon cables might not have a clips.

    • Pull the ribbon cable out.

    • Remove 2 additional screws on back of lens

    • Detach ribbon cables and unplug cable leading to the back of the motherboard

    • Remove motherboard and flash from rest of hardware

  12. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P52 Viewfinder Replacement: step 11, image 1 of 1

    • Remove screw indicated in the picture to detach lens and viewfinder from other hardware

  13. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P52 Viewfinder Replacement: step 12, image 1 of 1

    • Remove three screws to separate lens from viewfinder

  14. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P52 Viewfinder Replacement: step 13, image 1 of 1

    • Purchase new viewfinder

    • Repeat previous steps in backward order!
