Dismantling doesn't include any harmful steps. Nonetheless workers should wear personal protection equipment like gloves, goggles, apron and robust shoes.

Note: This is a general guide for most lawn trimmers. As the construction can differ, the dismantling steps mentioned below can vary in their order. However, the described steps show what parts the removal should focus on.

What you need

1. Step 1 Lawn Trimmer
  Place the lawn trimmer on your working bench.

  Unscrew the protective cover.
  
  Remove the collection basket.

  Flip the lawn trimmer over and unscrew the case.
  
  Flip it back to its upright position to remove the cover.

  Unscrew the handle mount.

  Remove the handle.

  Cut the wires.

  Remove the capacitor.

  Unscrew the motor.

  Flip the trimmer over to remove the drive shaft.

  Lift off the drive shaft cover.
  
  If necessary, destroy the drive shaft cover with a hammer.

  Unscrew the case.

  Remove the drive shaft by hitting it with a hammer.

  Remove the motor.

  At the end of the handle, unscrew and open the plastic handle.

  Remove the string holder.

  Separate the remaining materials according to their type and go on with the appropriate data sheet (e.g. aluminium, ferrous metals, plastic, further PWBs, etc.).
  
  Make sure the plastic parts are completely free of metal pieces.
