Dismantling doesn't include any harmful steps. Nonetheless workers should wear personal protection equipment like gloves, goggles, apron and robust shoes.

Note: This is a general guide for most radio CD recorders. As the construction can differ, the dismantling steps mentioned below can vary in their order. However, the described steps show what parts the removal should focus on.

  1. Remove the batteries and the battery cover.
    • Remove the batteries and the battery cover.

  2. Remove the antenna.
    • Remove the antenna.

  3. Remove the screws from the back of the case and take it off. Remove the screws from the back of the case and take it off.
    • Remove the screws from the back of the case and take it off.

  4. Remove the remaining screws of the cover. Seperate the front from the back cover.
    • Remove the remaining screws of the cover.

    • Seperate the front from the back cover.

  5. Remove the screws of the coil. Pry out the coil and remove it. Pry out the coil and remove it.
    • Remove the screws of the coil.

    • Pry out the coil and remove it.

  6. Unscrew the PWB. Cut the cables running to the PWB. Remove the cables and the ring around them.
    • Unscrew the PWB.

    • Cut the cables running to the PWB.

    • Remove the cables and the ring around them.

  7. Unclip the wires from the PWB.
    • Unclip the wires from the PWB.

  8. Cut the wires of the speakers. Remove the PWB. Pry out the speakers.
    • Cut the wires of the speakers.

    • Remove the PWB.

    • Pry out the speakers.

  9. Remove the screws from the tape device. Remove the tape deck controls. Remove the tape deck controls.
    • Remove the screws from the tape device.

    • Remove the tape deck controls.

  10. Unscrew and remove the PWB.
    • Unscrew and remove the PWB.

  11. Push out the speaker covers and remove them. Push out the speaker covers and remove them.
    • Push out the speaker covers and remove them.

  12. Cut off the display and remove it. Cut off the display and remove it.
    • Cut off the display and remove it.

  13. Unscrew and remove the PWB. Unscrew and remove the PWB.
    • Unscrew and remove the PWB.

  14. Cut the wire that connects the larger PWB to the smaller one. Unscrew and remove the smaller PWB. Unscrew and remove the smaller PWB.
    • Cut the wire that connects the larger PWB to the smaller one.

    • Unscrew and remove the smaller PWB.

  15. Unscrew and remove the tape deck device.
    • Unscrew and remove the tape deck device.

  16. Separate the remaining materials according to their type and go on with the appropriate data sheet (e.g. aluminium, ferrous metals, plastic, further PWBs, etc.).
    • Separate the remaining materials according to their type and go on with the appropriate data sheet (e.g. aluminium, ferrous metals, plastic, further PWBs, etc.).

    • Make sure the plastic parts are completely free of metal pieces.
