Dismantling doesn't include any harmful steps. Nonetheless workers should wear personal protection equipment like gloves, goggles, apron and robust shoes.

Note: This is a general guide for most scanners. As the construction can differ, the dismantling steps mentioned below can vary in their order. However, the described steps show what parts the removal should focus on.

What you need

Step 1 Scanner

• Remove the foam lid.

• Unscrew the lid.

• Unscrew the PWB.
Step 4
• Remove the cover.
Step 5
• Unscrew the PWB.
Step 6
• Carefully remove the lamp and store separately.
Step 7
• Unscrew the case.
Step 8
• Remove the air filter pad.
Step 9
• Pry open the glass frame.
• Remove the glass frame.
• Remove the glass.
Step 10
• Cut and remove the toothed belt.
Step 11
• Unscrew the motor.
Step 12
• Remove the steel bar.
Step 13
• Remove the wires.
Step 14
• Carefully remove the lamp without breaking it.
Step 15
• Remove the mirror.
Step 16
• Unscrew the PWB.
Step 17
• Cut the wires.
Step 18
• Remove the coil.
Step 19
• Remove the motor.
Step 20
• Remove the PWB cover.
• Unscrew and remove the PWB.
Step 21
• Separate the remaining materials according to their type and go on with the appropriate data sheet (e.g. aluminium, ferrous metals, plastic, further PWBs, etc.).
• Make sure the plastic parts are completely free of metal pieces.
