HP released the dv3 in April 2009 to compete with a similar Gateway model also released in 2009. The dv3 is slightly more expensive than its predecessor, the lower end dv2. The dv3 has a bronze/chrome exterior, and includes a fingerprint scanner below the keyboard.
The dv3 came standard with 4GB of RAM, a 13.3 inch screen with a 1280 by 800 resolution, AMD dual core processor, and plenty of ports for easy connectivity. These include VGA video output, two USB 2.0 ports, one hybrid USB/eSATA port, a PC Express Card slot, an SD/Memory Stick Pro combo slot, an HDMI port, and an Ethernet port.
